The Endangered Archives Programme at the British Library is pleased to announce the addition of a new catalogue to its web pages. The catalogue gives details of material copied by the project EAP054: Archiving a Cameroonian photographic studio
The collection consists of over 46,000 images taken by the photographer Jacques Touselle, who had his studio in the town of Mbouda, Western Region, Cameroon. The archives represent a record of life in this area over the past thirty years.

Signalons enfin que le Dr David Zeitlyn de l’Université of Kent, responsable de ce projet, a travaillé par le passé sur deux autres fonds de photographe au Cameroun occidental : ceux de Joseph Chila et Samuel Finlak. Ce travail a donné lieu à une exposition (Cameroon-London: Portrait Photographs by Joseph Chila and Samuel Finlak, National Portrait Gallery, 8 juillet-25 septembre 2005 et dont une version antérieure avait été présentée au British Council de Yaoundé en 2004) et a une publication : Joseph Chila and Samuel Finlak. Two Portrait Photographers in Cameroon (2005).

The Endangered Archives Programme at the British Library is now accepting grant applications for the next round of funding. Detailed information on the timetable, criteria, eligibility and procedures for applying for a grant is available on the Programme’s website. Applications will be accepted in English or in French.
